Mobile Phone Game Review: Among Us

I know that we’ve had a lot of mobile phone game reviews lately and I was hoping to switch things up a bit this week, but I just had to review this game and my first experience with it while it was still fresh! And since this game has become quite popular, I think you’ll appreciate it as well.

Team Inked recently had a little pre-Christmas get together (virtually of course) where we went over some brief end of year updates and reviews. Once we got through all of the thank you's and happy holidays, we started the real fun, which was a friendly game of Among Us! Some played on PC, some played on phones, and some played on tablets. Now, I had never played Among Us before, but heard nothing but good things about it prior. In fact, we even used it as a theme for our weekly meme some time back in early November. So, when I finally got the chance to download and play this game with my fellow Inked team members, I was hyped!

In what follows, I’ll give you some brief background on the game along with my thoughts and opinions about my first real experience playing it. Let me just say now, that I was really impressed!

Let’s begin with what the game is all about!

What is it?

Among us is a space-themed, online multiplayer game (for 4 -10 players) that was first released back in 2018 from Innersloth Studios. The game is available on multiple platforms, including Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch and Steam! Among Us has been described as a social deduction game that enables players to take on one of two roles in each game. Those roles are crewmates and impostors.

Players in each party (either local or online) are randomly selected to be either a crewmate or an impostor. The crewmates are tasked with completing certain objectives spread throughout the spaceship and must do so without being killed (or sabotaged) by an impostor. Once a body is discovered, players must confer with each other and deduce who the two impostors are. If the impostors are eliminated or all objectives are completed in the process, the crewmates win the game. However, if the impostors do their job and kill enough crewmates, they win the game. So, you’ll have to put your survival and deception skills to the test!

What did you think?

At first, I wasn’t too sure about how the game could work, at least the way it’s supposed to, when it comes to the deception aspect. But thanks to some detailed directions and tips from our game group leader (shout out to Ryan) the game made more sense and worked just as it should, especially since it was done right. The speed of the game was good and it really doesn’t take long to get the hang of it. And obviously, once you know the rules, the game flows quite nicely, which can be difficult when you’re playing in a party of 10 players.

I like this game because it kind of reminds me of The Thing. Where a group has been infiltrated by an impostor who is killing everybody one by one and now the whole group is paranoid and trying to prove their innocence. In this case, everyone is trying to prove that they are a cremate and not an impostor. I actually got to play both roles and I liked being an impostor better. But I’ve learned not to use the vents. If you’ve played the game, you know what I’m talking about. If not, be sure to remember that once you play as an impostor for the first time. I also like the discussion aspect that takes place after each body is discovered.

All in all, I thought this game was fun. It even reached the point where we went a little over our time limit because we didn’t want to stop playing. There was never a dull moment and each game felt different from the last. I (we) really enjoyed it!

Would you recommend this game?

For sure! If games about survival and deception interest you, I recommend that you download this game pronto! Even if you’re looking for a game that can bring you and your friends, family or co-workers closer, I would say that Among Us should be at the top of your list. I’m so glad that so many others recommended it to me, and that’s what I’m doing for you if you have yet to give it a try. You won’t be sorry!

I thank you for taking the time to read through this review and I hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about the game. As I mentioned earlier, Among Us has become a very popular title in the gaming community and will only continue to grow. So, if you’ve played Among Us already, be sure to leave me your thoughts and opinions about it in the comments section. If you haven’t and wish to learn more or have any questions, you can leave those for me in the comments as well.

I appreciate you joining me once again and hope to continue this series with more great games and reviews. Just a heads up, I have some really great titles coming down soon that I think you’re going to love. So, stay tuned for those!

Until we meet again,

There are a few things you should focus on (besides killing everyone): don’t look suspicious, use sabotage to your advantage, and use ventilation to make a quick escape.

This game is like a squd game where it’s hard to guess who the culprit is. Thank you for the game info, highly recommend. For more information, please visit our site https://clarogaming.gg/
