Mobile Phone Game Review - Tiny Room Stories: Town Mystery
Hey all! I want to start with a warm welcome back to the series (after a bit of a hiatus) and a confession: I’m not Sarah! I know, I know this is usually Sarah’s Mobile Phone Game Review, but after seeing all the fun she was having with it, I just had to get in on the action and hijack the series from her. So, that’s why we’re going to keep this post between us. After all, what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her... right? Just kidding!!! Come on, you know me better than that! Actually, Sarah asked me if I would like to continue the series for the time being. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity.
For today’s Mobile Game Review I have a real brain stretcher of a game for the Sherlock readers and amateur sleuths among you. If you enjoy mysteries and escape rooms as much as I do, you’re sure to love this game!
Tiny Room Stories: Town Mystery
What is it?
Tiny Room Stories is a 2019 mystery puzzle game from Kiary Games that’s available for Android. Picture this: you’re a private detective who receives an urgent letter from your dad requesting that you come to the small town of Redcliff (your hometown). Upon arriving, you notice that the town is deserted. With no residents or signs of life anywhere, it appears that Redcliff has become a ghost town overnight, (cue the Twilight Zone theme). So, it’s up to you to find out what happened to everyone, including your dad. In order to do so, you’ll have to search the town for clues, solve cryptic riddles/puzzles and unlock some doors along the way. Still with me? Good!As you explore and investigate different abandoned locations throughout the town, you come across different items, codes, and clues, which can be used to help you progress to the next chapter of the story. Of course, to discover these clues and hidden items, you’ll have to do a thorough search of all the rooms you enter and leave no stone unturned, not even the real ones. The more keys and clues you collect, the closer you come to solving the mystery and discovering where your dad and the other citizens of Redcliff have gone.
What did you think?
I’m very picky about the games I play, especially if I have to download it on my phone. If I download it I better be obsessed with it, you know? Well, since I downloaded and started playing this game, I’ve actually found myself looking forward to it, especially at night. For some reason, I find it eerier and more stimulating when it’s dark out and the lights are off, but that’s just me. For a mobile game, the graphics are actually solid (partly because the rooms are 3D) and the controls/mechanics are pretty smooth once you get a feel for the tempo of the game.
The storyline is very intriguing and keeps me playing, which is what I want from all of my games. Now, I chose this particular game because I love mysteries and was looking for a challenge. I will say, there are times during the game where I was totally lost or stumped, but thankfully, the game offers you helpful tips and hints to keep you moving at a steady pace. All in all, I really enjoyed playing Tiny Room Stories: Town Mystery!
Would you recommend this game?
If mysteries and virtual escape rooms intrigue you, then absolutely! As I said, this game requires you to be thorough and pay attention to even the smallest details of every room, which is great because it keeps your mind sharp. So, if you’re looking to play a game that makes you think and tests your detective skills, I’d say this one is the right fit for you. Tiny Room Stories is a great game and an ideal substitute for those of you who want to bring an ‘Escape Room’ to your room.
