The Weekly Wave

Welcome back to the Weekly Wave! Let’s see what news, updates, and announcements have risen to the surface this week!

Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2023

It’s been 4 years since the last Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship went live, and after continuous cancellations, Konami is finally ready to bring it back to the big stage. This year’s World Championship will be hosted at the International Exhibition Center in Tokyo. In addition to some updated COVID-19 guidelines, which we touch on in a bit, Konami has also announced that the Championship will also feature Master Duel.

Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2023

That’s right! For the very first time, Master Duel will be included at the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship, adding another category to the list. Master Duel will join Duel Links and TCG to make a trio of events for players to participate in.

The 1st Stage for Master Duel will run from May 16 – 29, with the Regional Qualifiers taking place May 26 – 29. The Duel Links 1st stage will follow closely after, with the 1st Stage scheduled between May 30 – June 12 and Regional Qualifiers between June 9 – 12. The qualifiers for TCG are set for later this summer, with the regional tournament being hosted at the

Jaarbeurs exhibition center in Utrecht, Netherlands. The European Championship will go down between June 30 – July 2.

Since this is a major in-person tournament happening in Tokyo, Konami also let it be known that there will be some updated guidelines, which announced that they will no longer require masks or proof of vaccinations. While they would like to encourage all players to have both, those items will not be a requirement. However, they will continue to reserve the right to put these items on the requirement list for any future in-person events.

More details can be found on Konami’s official World Championship page!

SPOILER ALERT: New monster revealed in Pokémon Horizons

In case you didn’t get the memo from our past Weekly Wave updates, the first episode of Pokémon Horizons premiered in Japan last Friday. As expected, the new adventure, which features a cast of new characters and Pokémon, has captured audiences and those who want to see another group of Trainers reach their goals of becoming the very best.

Ever since the series went live, viewers have been wondering who the new monster is that appeared in the first episode. The monster in question is very similar to a legendary Pokémon who will be appearing in the Indigo Disk (part 2 of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC). Yes, that would be Terapagos.

Terapagos

Here’s how the never-before-seen Pokémon appeared in the show:

You can see the resemblance. After much speculation and discussion among those in the Pokémon community, Nintendo revealed a tad bit more about this mystery monster. Earlier this week, via social media, Nintendo let everyone know that this new Pokémon is somehow related to Terapagos (no surprise). It will also be featured in the DLC for Scarlet and Violet. Other than that, we don’t know exactly who this Pokémon is and what role it will play in the upcoming story and DLC.

The Indigo Disk is set to release sometime this winter, so it’s going to be a while, but at least we have the Teal Mask DLC coming in the fall to hold us over until then!

Check out this cool new thing from Thingamajigs!

It’s that time again! Another week has gone by, and that means another awesome new art from Thingamajigs has landed on our site. However, this week, Thingamajigs has delivered a design that looks to keep flying high above all the rest. It’s a fiery piece that’s sure to add a spark to every battlestation and tabletop. Welcome to our world, Dragon Tempest!

Dragon Tempest

This is the seventh straight Thingamajig original to be added to our collection, and each one has been more stunning than the last. With Dragon Tempest, you can show friends and foes what kind of designs give you the fire to want to fly even higher.

You can find Thingamajigs’ Dragon Tempest design on various pieces from our collection, including playmats, mousepads, and dice bags. Once you’re done here, be sure to fly over to their collection page and scoop up your Dragon Tempest gear today!

That’s all for now! Stay tuned for our next edition of The Weekly Wave for more fun stories and updates!
