The Weekly Wave
Welcome back to the Weekly Wave! Let’s see what news, updates, and announcements have risen to the surface this week!
MTG is going to Jurassic Park!
It’s been a great year for MTG crossovers, and with a few months left in 2023, MTG has prepared to launch another Universes Beyond crossover set that has everyone roaring with excitement. Lost Caverns of Ixalan is slated to be the last complete set released this year, and will introduce players to a host of new cards, including characters/creatures from the Jurassic film series.
If you’ve followed the franchise ever since its first release back in 1993, you know that there are plenty of awesome creatures to be featured on these cards. This set actually comes just in time for Jurassic World’s 30th-anniversary celebration as well, so expect passionate collectors and movie fans to jump on this set like a T-Rex going after a jeep.
Speaking of Rex, the Lost Caverns of Ixalan set will include three Jurassic Park-themed cards: Ian Malcom, Chaotician (Legendary Creature), Indominus Rex, Alpha (Legendary Creature), and Welcome To…/Jurassic Park (doubled-sided Saga card). Here’s a peek at what those cards look like:
Pretty cool, right? Definitely a blast from the past for those of us who grew up watching the movie. Of course, there are more cards featured in The Lost Cavern of Ixalan, but it’s great to see that these Jurassic Park-themed cards will be a part of it. We’re going to mark November 17th on our calendar, as that’s when The Lost Caverns Of Ixalan (including boosters and bundles) will be released! Check out MTG’s website for more info on all the cards that will be included in the Lost Caverns Of Ixalan set.
Pokémon Announces Kitakami Prologue Competition!
With everyone gearing up for some epic upcoming adventures in Scarlet and Violet, another competition is set to launch in the next week. The Kitakami Prologue will introduce Trainers to a fun online competition made up of Double Battles using the Kitakami Pokédex. Just like all the other online Pokémon competitions, this one challenges Trainers to put their skills to the test against Trainers from all over the map.
Since the Kitakami Prologue is officially scheduled to launch in October, the details are still being kept under wraps. However, Pokémon has let it be known that it will kick off on October 5th at 5:00 p.m. PDT and remain live until 4:59 p.m. PDT on October 8th. While October 5th is still a week away, Pokémon is inviting Trainers to sign up and register sooner than that.
Registration for the Kitakami Prologue event opens on Sunday, October 1st at 5:00 p.m. PDT. It’s cool if you’re not able to register then because registration will stay open all week long, until the event concludes. Again, more details and info should be coming out very soon, so keep your eyes and ears open for those over the next few days and keep checking Pokémon’s official site.
If you have the time on Sunday, be sure to get your name added to the registration list, that way you’re good to go when the action begins!
Good luck, Trainers!
