Welcome back to the Weekly Wave! Let’s see what news, updates, and announcements have risen to the surface this week!

New PokéPark theme park expansion opening in Japan!

It’s still a long way off and the project is still in development, but there’s news that the wheels are in motion to bring a new Pokemon-themed park expansion to the ever-popular Yomiuriland amusement park. Located in Kanto, Yomiuriland is a well-known attraction for tourists and residents who are looking for a day of fun.

This project/expansion is actually a reboot partnership between Pokémon and Yomiuriland. The first PokéPark was opened in 2019 on a smaller scale, but this latest venture will look to broaden things up a bit. That means more characters, exhibits, attractions, and adventures. Together, the two sides released this statement:

“We will be producing a place where Pokémon fans from around the world can gather in a lush natural environment and enjoy Pokémon in a way that transcends the barriers of country, region, and language.”

Since the venture is still technically on the drawing board, we don’t have many more details at this point. Dates, names, and rumors are all speculative at this point, but when the project does get off the ground, you’ll be one of the first to know. We are going to keep a close eye on this story and see if anything big pops up after the new year.

MTG announces Doctor Who: Regeneration Secret Lair!

We knew it was coming, and earlier this week, MTG pulled back the curtain by unveiling the official dates and fun pics to help tide us over. In case you didn’t know, Magic: The Gathering is expanding its collaboration with Doctor Who in the form of another awesome Secret Lair that is set to drop next year.

This newest Doctor Who Secret Lair will feature characters from the 60th-anniversary specials and also introduce five new cards including Rose Noble, The Meep, The Celestial Toymaker, The Fourteenth Doctor, and The Fifteenth Doctor. 

Here’s a quick peek at those five cards:

Now, this is a set that we’re definitely going to have on our radar in the new year. Speaking of, when can we expect Secret Lair x Doctor Who: Regeneration to launch? Well, according to WOTC, the set will be available for pre-order starting on January 7, 2024. So, if you want to get yours ordered ahead of everyone else, you can do so via MTG website less than a month from now. The cards will officially be released on April 26, 2024.

Be sure to mark those dates on your calendar. Call it Doctor’s orders.
